We provide emergency medical services, BLS transportation, fire suppression, public education and fire prevention activities, and range of rescue services. Population ranges 8000 to 12,000 depending on the season and local entertainment activities. The fire district is located 20 miles north of the capital, Olympia (via U.S. Hwy 101.) Area colleges include: Olympic College, Evergreen State College, and South Sound Community College.

We are currently seeking interested persons researching a fire or EMS career. Resident firefighters live at the station (private room) and fulfill emergency and non-emergency requests for service. Training, protective equipment. uniforms and transportation are paid for by the district. Resident firefighters receive a monthly stipend and have additional avenues for revenue.

The district is governed by an elected board of three commissioners. The board has moved us forward, with a planned organizational model projected out to 2018. The desired organizational model has a built-in objective of four on-duty personnel, around the clock.

District staffing consists of five career staff (Chief, HR, two District Chiefs, and a LT.) and approximately 25 volunteers (fire officers, firefighters, support,) with the planned expansion. We operate seven stations, nine fire apparatus-structural and wildland, and two BLS ambulances. We protect 52 square miles with a liberal mutual aid agreement with area agencies.
